Centro Latino for Literacy in Los Angeles, California founded in 1991 as a non-profit organization provides innovative solutions that are transforming lives through literacy.

The Center teaches non-literate Spanish speaking adults to read and write in Spanish through its online literacy course, LEAMOS™.  This program has been used successfully by over 4,500 adults to build foundational skills and confidence needed to learn English as a second language (ESL).

With over 1.6 million adult Spanish-speaking in the U.S. who cannot read or write in either English or Spanish, Centro Latino for Literacy is delivering a much needed service to adults.  As a web-based program, the LEAMOS™ course has helped adult learners overcome the fear of technology and gain confidence in using computers to learn to read and write.   Centro Latino for Literacy was the recipient of the 2014 NCLR Affiliate of the Year for the State of California.  (144 word count).
